Today TICO will have received a "Request for Assessment" from an account
holder, and now has no option but to investigate the breach of the DPA
I predict that the investigation will say "this issue has been solved". I
look forward to being surprised though.
The person lodging the complaint fears that sufficient personal data has
been potentially released into the public domain to allow a malefactor to
impersonate him. He sees that the harm done may be several months down the
track.
If TICO acts as I predict by educating(!) instead of enforcing then this is
like the following scenario:
"I have been spotted driving at 150mph on the M6. The police have pulled me
over and said 'you know you are going rather too fast, but you are a
fantastic driver. Well done, but we are very glad you are going to try to
go slowly from now on.' and they let me off without a stain on my
character"
As I have said before, Law that is not enforced is bad law. It should be
enforced or repealed.
