Paul Simkins is to blame for this by mentioning AD was after Durant. I
have come up with the following dates - are the any more
C
BC - Before computers (around 1947)
Age of Enlightenment - 1992-1998
The Age of enlightenment was responsible for the development and
publication of the Government's original proposals on Freedom of
Information by David Clarke - had a simple "harm to the public interest"
test and a presumption of access. Human Rights Act 1998 was enacted.
The Reformation (between 1991 and 1995)
Covering the European movement in relation to data protection
harmonization which brings UK laws in line with Europe's higher
standards of privacy protection.
The Strawvian Period 1999 - 2001
The period when the powers of Mordor began to gain the upper hand. RIPA
and Terrorism Act enacted. In the UK - the Age of Enlightenment
proposals for FOI were jettisoned in favour of the FOI Act and 20+
exemptions.
Literature notes that the Strawvian Period gave rise to the common
expression "He got the personal data down to the last Straw" - meaning
the applicant got the final piece of personal data/or information which
unfortunately had to be given to the applicant because an exemption
could not be found.
DoB - Date of Blunkett - 2001- current
Many believe the DoB heralded a new Dark Age (see also AD)
AD - After Durant - December 2003 - Judges determine the objectives of
Parliament without reference to the Parliamentary record.
