If you have to ask the question then the answer is already bubbling through
your mind. You see if you have doubts so do a number of the data subjects.
Your doubts are prior to the event, theirs will be after the event. Your
doubts can cure, theirs can enforce.
I am also not at all keen on students having to opt OUT of 3rd party data
transfers. This reminds me of the UKIC's successful enforcement against
Innovations some years ago for informing its customers post purchase that
their data would be passed to third parties unless they opted out.
So alarm bells are ringing for me here.
I strongly counsel you to get express consent for this potentially new
processing of data and for this 3rd party data transfer.
