In general it raises the following points:
-The DPA does not specifically forbid the use of personal data in
system-testing;
-However, it notes the ICO's advice is that "Dummy" or anonymised
data should be used in preference unless there is no practical
alternative;and
- The publication takes the stance that system testing should be viewed
in the same way as any other form of processing, but legislation should
not be ignored as an expensive encumbrance; thus
-Any test processing against live data must be DPA compliant, with
regard to the principles etc.
