Lots of people have expressed surprise at the charging scheme, as I was
surprised. My son reports today that there is no charge for library
books used in lessons but insists that the librarian did mention charges
before. He's also clearly been trained up in what the fingerprint
technology does (roughly: doesn't keep the fingerprint, but a digital
extract of it). Not that the latter makes it any better.
So we have a bit of a conundrum: do they charge, and if not, why was it
apparently the explanation for the security measures? I'll report back
when I know more.
