Is the key issue the use and accountability of a vehicle registered to an
organisation.
If the vehicle is the organisations the Road Traffic regulations require the
organisation to provide details of the driver.
Could it be that the DP principles regarding vehicle use log books are not
being applied properly within the organisation.
If the vehicle is a private one somebody has been asked to research (say
they have seen an internet or media article about outstanding speeding
offences where photographs of drivers taken by the police, or speeding
cameras are displayed) then surely that could be a fishing trip.
A troubling thought - Is it sufficient focus if a suspicion existed that a
private motorist who has been speeding worked at a particular organisation
of several hundred or thousand workers, or lived in a particular
county/country. Dependent on circumstances that focus could be sufficient
for some police, but would it be sufficient to commit organisational
resources, unless of course facial image recognition systems are deployed on
organisational systems, causing the resource commitment arguments to be
negated.
