Yes strange; But, could have similarities to those organisational processes
where people are presented with a final solution for consultation.
In some ways, like 'respect' for privacy, different approaches seem to
reveal, different facets of 'respect', and comparison of many such
approaches, could well be informative in regard to the amount of, say - UDHR
Article 18 compliance, where somebody following an idea being developed, is
beset by others who may perceive more/different benefits in alternative
routes to that chosen by the individual, and if the levels of privacy, or
data protection, actually provide any support, allowing the individual to
proceed on their chosen route. I imagine it would be a fascinating project
to observe, measure, confirm, and reconfirm, those facets. A difficulty
would be that words could fail to adequately describe some of the outcomes.
Of interest is that the DPA does not require 'respect' but implements other
mechanisms in an attempt to achieve a similar end product. That seems to be
very informative in respect of a change in philosophical approach at some
stage. The levels of tolerance would then seem to be changed from a moral
sort of good manners approach to privacy into something else, probably with
different types of difficulties, but which occur in more or less the same
areas. The methods of answering those difficulties becomes the interesting
matter then I suppose.
