As with the personalisation of so many electronic services, some take a low
priority.
There seems to be some timing difficulties with the e-mail, as some are
arriving my end after different delay periods, so there is some overlap in
the thread.
As stated previously we appear to be debating the same issue at different
levels.
A key element is clearly, as Jo Archer's e-mail question intimated, the data
subject. A pity public opinion holds so many varied views simultaneously,
otherwise a simple survey would be sufficient guidance.
In my opinion any one single method of determining or legitimising an
appropriate retention period will either be flawed, or could be manipulated.
Identifying the different methods used in different areas may assist in
producing a catalogue of techniques which could, where appropriate, be
utilised. I suspect that would mean involving experts in various fields.
