When setting up any database containing information based on the outcome of
court proceedings remember to include processes/mechanisms to capture appeal
proceeding outcomes, or the data will not be maintained correctly for
purpose and will eventually leave the organisation vulnerable (e.g. Showing
John Smith recorded, when on appeal it was found that John Brown was the
actual party involved). As the media do not report all court cases from all
of the courts, other channels would need to be used.
