Perhaps my previous posts have addressed too narrow an issue. Whilst Jason
mentioned the Telecommunications (Lawful Business Practice, Interception of
Communications) Regulations 2000 as well as RIPA I read his question as
applying to RIPA only.
Agreed that the Telecomms Regs apply to anyone. As Roland nicely puts it "
allows mere mortals several powers: to intercept on private networks" but
RIPA powers are only usable by defines public authorities.
