Please see below for the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames'
advertisement for an Information Lawyer:
Home to Royal Parks, historic palaces and English Rugby, Richmond upon
Thames' ambition is to be the cleanest, safest and greenest borough in
London. This quest for quality is reflected in our 'good authority' rating
from the government but we have the ambition to do better. If you have the
ambition to be part of this quest for quality, innovation and customer
service, read on.
We are looking for a solicitor (or barrister or equivalent) with extensive
experience of data protection and freedom of information law in a public
sector context for a busy and high performing London Borough.
The role will primarily involve responsibility for the Council's data
protection and freedom of information compliance, which involves a
considerable range and variety of work from the provision of legal advice
to management, staff and Members to drafting and implementing policies and
procedures. You will need to take forward, and build on, the data
protection work already in place, and lead the Council's compliance in the
new and challenging area of freedom of information.
You will also have the opportunity to pursue or develop your expertise in
another area of law, such as education, corporate policy or town and
country planning.
