The cynic in me suggests that the government will attempt to simplify the
law so it can drive a coach and horses through it with its new identity card
concept.
That cynic also says that the "Smartcard" project is the National Identity
Card in disguise. So we will get it one way or another.
Let us hope that the Brussels attempt to get the UK to regularise the law
takes precedence.
