I agree with you, Maurice.
I would be most interested in seeing what Sibilo have to offer, but am
somewhat surprised. A simple audit on a medium sized corporation to just
perform data discovery and compliance auditing takes approximately a man
week. I can see software being of some use, much the same way that
Gartner's Y2K Risk Assessment software presented the risk of non compliance
to people, but performing the task soup to nuts in 45 minutes is unusually
quick.
A simple compliance review must take into account:
Core Mechanical Data
Core Manual Data
Local Mechanical Data
Local Manual Data
External interactions
Internal Interactions
Data Transfer
Upstream agreements for data supply
Downstream agreements for data transfer
Data Controller/Data processor agreements
And rather a lot more!
Now, if I could find a piece of software to let me to a week of consultancy
in 45 minutes, and still bill the week as a week of FTE work......... Well
I could spend time on the beach!
I did a google search! Can't resist, and it isn't even Friday. I have
asked the FIRST result to show me what they can do in 45 minutes. Shows you
have to be darned careful what you call your corporation though!

Information Officers
Isn't it a little unreal - particularly on this list - to suggest that some
bit of software "enables full compliance with the requirements of the Data
Protection Act in just 45 minutes"?
