Oh dear, a little knowledge . . . - or is it very little knowledge?
First of all, no processing takes place with an announcement over a tannoy
unless the data are obtained from a computer system or a relevant filing system
or if there is an intention to file details of that person in such a record.
The personal data definition is probably not even approached, never mind met.
In terms of child protection, why the supermarket staff would feel that
failure to announce that the child is missing is likely to protect them from
paedophiles escapes me.
