Hi Steve
I have taken advice on this subject before and in my Council we have agreed that although under the DP Act you have to inform individuals that they are on such a list, we have taken the view that if the Health & Safety of our employees is greatly at risk by informing the individuals then we won't tell them. Each incident will be decided on a case by case basis.

Subject: Producing a list of Dangerous 'Customers'
***** THIS EMAIL WAS RECEIVED FROM THE INTERNET *****
Hi - this is my first ever post though I am a regular visitor to the board.
My organisation wishes to produce a list of potentially aggressive/dangerous customers to ensure the safety of our home visitors and other staff who may be in contact with these people. Does the Data Protection Act allow me to do this and if so what level of information will I be able to include?
I am aware that we could be producing a list practically accusing people of violence etc and I am very wary of doing this though I do believe we owe a duty of care to our employees.
Thanks
Steve
