If you responded at all then you confirm or otherwise that the student
exists. Isn't there something in the Education Act (?) that says we are
not allowed to give out info as to whether xyz is a student here or not?
I might well be making this up of course but that is how I was informed
by our legal people and it is one of the reasons we removed all our
student e-mail addresses from our web phone/e-mail lookup - the other
being that no-one had actually asked for their permission.
