No mention was made of age, or what benefit, if any, would be gained by
knowing about the illness.
It could well be that the father has/intends/wishes/will advise the other
child/mother regarding the situation.
This sounds more like a medical ethics committee problem than a DP
disclosure matter as there are very wide implications for research diagnosis
and treatment as well as support and care. The terminally ill so easily end
up perceiving themselves as being seen as mere objects rather than living
individuals who retain choice, dignity and probably some wish to partake in
life. After all every living individual is terminally ill, with life, the
prognosis and term is the only difference.
