Maybe we have uncovered some inconsistency here in the responses from the
ICO. Seems unbelievable, I know, but it just might be true. My comments were
based on a response given to an employer's enquiry about using enforced access.
Perhaps official bodies, embassies and the like, are encouraged and employers
are discouraged.
Of course the SAR will not actually be sufficient for either. If a person
applies for access, and gives that response to the embassy/employer, it will not
contain the data that the NIS thinks might prejudice further enquiries. For
example, details of tattoos are withheld, as are warnings involving
weapons/violence, and various other categories of data. They are at best incomplete, at
worst misleading as to character.
