I don't seem to be getting all messages at present (I didn't get Ian's
original) anyone else having this problem?
Apologies if this has already been said, but there are solutions available
that ensure all email sent and received are stored and that have extensive
and supposedly easy to use search facilities, both for users searching
their own emails and specified "administrators" able to search the entire
business? Not quite plug and play though (they take a few hours to a few
days to install and of course you need to check email policies and staff
communication etc. etc).

There is no such "plug and play" technological answer at the moment.
If people are using Outlook <spit> then there is a newly emerging class
of application called "Desktop search tools" of which I'm testing
blinkx. http://www.blinkx.com
This purports to search the user's PC for all kinds of documents, as
well as the contents of Outlook (and now, Eudora) mailbases. It's still
a case of searching each PC one at a time. though. [Needless to say, I
use a rather better client that's never likely to figure in their
plug-ins.]
However, I've *very* impressed at the way it searches for documents,
including those in a test Outlook I've made for the purpose.
