Chris has put the the glaring inconsistencies surrounding this and other
child 'welfare' issues in a nutshell.
The angle seemed to be that as a society we are not being
consistent. On the
one hand parents are responsible for the actions of their children
(anti social
behaviour, truancy orders) but on the other don't have any say in
the welfare of
their children in other circumstances such as young daughters being
prescribed
the pill and having abortions.
