Dear Colleagues
We have received a request for information regarding a student from the
Social Services department on the Isle of Man. The reason for the
request is that the student's parent is a child minder and therefore
certain checks (similar to CRB) need to be undertaken. The request
quotes the Children & Young Persons Act 2001 (a Tynwald act) as
legitimacy for the request.
Whilst I believe the request to be legitimate, I am aware of the peculiar
IOM system ie part of the UK for some things but not all, not a member of
EU etc. My feeling is that an exemption for Health, Education & Social
work might apply.
I would be grateful if colleagues could suggest a way forward.
