The SAR is for a copy of data currently held. The enquirer may want to
establish whether or not the Controller still holds data that was sent
to or from them some time ago, even though he currently has a copy that
he has retained. Or he may have lost his copy and is using an SAR to
obtain a further copy of the data - and remember it is a copy of the
data and not a copy of the document that he is entitled to under DPA so
it does not have to be a photocopy of correspondence.
I also believe that correspondence about purely work matters "Fred,
there will be a meeting on Friday, John" is not personal data and
therefore does not have to be supplied.
