The errors are reported as a minority of checks conducted, so one would
assume they would have been an acceptable risk in setting up the CRB.
If no risk assessment including the error factors was conducted, the
originators would be inept and irresponsible.
If a risk assessment included the error factors, sufficient funds should
have been put aside to be made available to recompense those people
disadvantaged. Even so, very sad for those individuals affected.
The CRB seems a good example of a response to a subject of the sort which
can pressure decision/consultation group members out of expressing any
opposition which may be at variance to perceived group norms. Where a DPO
type role is involved within such a decision/consultation group they are
often the only one(s) who may legitimately express difficulties which could
arise for individual(s), indeed it would be their responsibility to do so.
A good example of what causes DP to be seen as counter productive to some
social group members and why strong support from top management is not an
optional extra, more a necessity. Sadly it is often perceived the support
has to be covert.
I wonder if the DPA s.10 or 14 will be applied by those people disadvantaged
by CRB checks at any stage?
