Dear all,
Colleagues in a library have had a visit from a Truancy Officer
accompanied by the Police looking for children who should be at school.
Parents had reported that their children spent their time in this library
when they should have been at school and the schools have reported that
they dont know where these children are. (Why the parents have not dealt
with this is another matter!)
Children are seen in the library most school days.
The Truancy Officer and the Police have asked if the library staff would
provide to them names of children who use the computers etc during school
time if the staff think they should be at school.
Children have rights too, I have a view but would very much appreciate
your views in this regard to enable me to build a strong response to this
issue. For informaiton, the details were passed on without any formal
recording (I think I have a problem!)
Paul
