I wonder if any of my local government colleagues could point me in the
direction of where I could find the answer to this query. I understand
that the NUS are encouraging students to register to vote and have
informed some Students' Unions that they can block register students
living on university owned/managed accommodation (the implication is
that this is automatic and without their agreement). I cannot see how
this would be compliant with the DPA as I would have thought that the
consent of each student would be needed in advance. Potentially students
would also be registered in two places and could therefore vote twice?
I'm sure that the facts have probably got altered in the transmission of
this information from the NUS to the meeting I was at today, so if
anyone could tell me where I can find out more about this I would be
very grateful
Thanks
Mandi
