The correct way to set such things up, is to send the vacation message
only once to each correspondent, and to remember *not* to send it on
subsequent occasions. That's not so bad, even if the vacationer stays
subscribed to mailing lists.
I'm on at least one list where I'd be un-subscribed pdq by the
administrators if I dared to send multiple vacation messages. But I
never send them at all, so it's one thing less to worry about. That and
not having to worry about people breaking into my house.
Meanwhile, you can filter all the Helenaic emails into a separate
folder, or avoid auto-replying to them yourself, if you set up a rule to
spot header lines like:
