In theory they are still intercepted if they are "stored awaiting
collection". In practice, this fine distinction doesn't seem to be worth
much (especially if the email system in question has problems
distinguishing between emails that have been delivered and read, and
those delivered and not read, or indeed delivered, read and then marked
unread).
