I was ok until #8. That says "anybody and everybody". The others require
justification, but are specific, this one is cart blanche to do what they
like

Subject: [data-protection] Housing Forms
***** THIS EMAIL WAS SENT VIA THE INTERNET *****
Hi All
One of our Social Work clients is trying to obtain housing accommodation in
another area. The applicatin form for housing basically states under DP
says under the homehunt policy it will not disclose any information without
written consent of the data subject. It then goes on over the page to say
that the applicant agrees for the following bodies to supply and share
information: (1) Police (2) Prosecution Authority (3) relevant Local
Authorities (4) Landlords or former landlords (5) relevant Govt. authorities
(6) medical authorities (7) employers and (8) any other person, body or
organisation with relevant information.
I can understand why they want to do this but it seems a disproportionate
amount of data the Housing Association could be holding just for someone
wishing to obtain a house albeit they obviously do not want tenants who are
likely to have had any ASBOs etc in another area.
Has anyone out there encountered this and any views would be greatly
appreciated.
Doreen
