Mick, would you like me to forward this to the RNID for you?

I don't think appealing to their sense of public responsibility will help.
It
might help if RNID or the BBC someone would guarantee them an order. They
have obviously decided that the market size does not warrant running models
with these features and as they are all non-UK firms they can easily ignore
such pleas.
I don't know what the economics of doing a run but I would guess that
something along the 10,000 units would be necessary for them to justify
switcxhing a production run.
However, it is probably possible that certain units could be adapted and it
would be useful to try to get that information. Closed Caption is probably
mainly a software thing. It might also be the case that they have old stock
in some far distant country.

Dear Chris
The RNID are still campaigning with video manufacturers to reinstate at
least one model with this additional feature. So far we have not acheived
anything. We are asking for the public to write in explaining how
important
these video recorders are for them, every letter helps to put our point
forward.
Please keep a look out in the news for any updates in the future.
