If a student on this campus has divulged an illness such as
epilepsy, I would normally ask them if this information
might be passed on to the First Aid Team, as they would
generally be called on in the event of a student having a
seizure and it helps if they are aware of the situation,
rather than coming on it unexpectedly. We would generally
arrange for the student, once they had come round, to go to
the First Aid Room to rest and a member of the first aid
team would either stay with them or monitor them until they
felt able to either return to classes or go home - whatever
they felt fit to do. A friend might offer to stay with
them, if they wished, but the best bet is to work out a
plan with the individual to suit their own preferences.
