Dyscalculia and Dyslexia Interest Group (DDIG) Workshop
"Difficulties dyslexics have when learning statistics"
Tuesday 2nd December 2003
Coventry University 6.30 – 8.30
Dr. Nigel Beacham (The Impact Research Group, Loughborough University) will talk
on
"Difficulties dyslexics have when learning statistics: An Initial
Study of computer-based media effects on learners who have dyslexia."
There has been much debate in the past regarding whether e-learning can
affect learning outcomes. An aim of our initial study was to determine if
different media combinations could affect dyslexic learners understanding
and whether the effect is similar to previous findings for non-dyslexic
learners. Results indicated that different media combinations, when
presented in the form of an electronic lecture, could have an effect.
Following the talk there will be an opportunity for questions and
discussion.
