The short answer is not really now. There was a product called
Outspoken for Mac but this has now for some reason been discontinued
and only worked up to OS release 9 (i.e, not OSX). There is a large
problem at the moment of how VI users can access X11 based operating
systems such as Apple OSX and Linux/Unix X based operating systems.
I was very sad to see that Outspoken had been discontinued, because
at one time I had thaught that they would tackle the X based issue
as a comercial entity, but sadly this does not now seem the case.
You may be able to see if you could get an old copy of Outspoken
from somewhere but I would highly advise against it because the
access to applications will be very different from what the VI
student normally uses with Windows, and you will need to use older
versions of applications if you are using OSX compatible software.
Andrew.
