Dear Karen
All students who have significant mobility or sensory impairments which
mean that evacuation for them may not be as simple as for other students
are referred to the University Safety Officer who talks with them and
looks with them at the buildings they will visit and draws up a plan
which the student agrees to for how they will leave the premises in the
event of an emergency.
The PEEP (as it is known) is lodged with the Safety Office, the
departmental Safety Adviser, the student and Disability Support.
This system works quite well and means that all 'players' are fully
informed in advance.

Subject: Personal evacuation plans
Hello all,
I can appreciate that it is an extremely busy time of year for you all,
however, I was wondering if anyone could share any information or
experience they may have about arranging personal evacuation plans
(PEP's) for students with disabilities. Disability services will be
working alongside the Universities Estates dept and Schools/Faculties in
an attempt to get a "system" in place regarding emergency evacuation.
Any ideas?
Many thanks
Karen
