It's an interesting question, as a Jiscmail list owner, I frequently get
messages bounced to me for review by the system software - almost always
because the system software thinks they are likely to be spam. I am not
aware of whether some or all jiscmail lists are otherwise automatically
monitored for content - do we have any subscribers from the unfortunate
town in North Lincolnshire whose name cannot be mentioned in many
automatically filtered fora?
The JISCmail policy <http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/help/policy/index.htm>
states:
"JISCmail's LISTSERV software employs various means of blocking much of the
junk email (spam) which is posted to lists."
&
"JISCmail cannot assume any responsibility for the *content* of messages
sent to our discussion lists, as the messages are sent by individual users,
and we do not review, screen or edit the content." (my asterisks)
There is no mention of any other type of content filter - although LSoft,
the people who make the listserv software
<http://www.lsoft.com/products/default.asp?item=listserv>
state that as one of its features, Listserv has:
"Content Filter: Can be configured by the list owner to automatically
reject messages with certain unwanted or inappropriate content from getting
posted to a list."
A quick scan of the management interface does not suggest that I, as a
jiscmail list owner, can implement any content filter by myself.
