Hi All
Is this only in England and Wales. I find this quite
astonishing....although may be a good thing - financial institutions may
ring you up offering a better deal!!!

Subject: Land Registration Act 2002
***** THIS EMAIL WAS RECEIVED FROM THE INTERNET *****
Sorry if this has been covered before, but has anyone got any views
on the
new Land Registration Act 2002. Part of the new regulations under
this Act
will mean that the amount someone has borrowed on a mortgage, plus
the
interest rate, will become publicly available. Also details of
leases and
rents will become public.
It seems that Exempt Information documents can be applied, which
will
effectively blank out this information in response to an individual
request,
provided it can be proved to be "prejudicial" - in other words it
will only
likely be the rich and famous that will be afforded privacy in this
regard.
Who on earth decided that it was in the public interest to allow
other
people to find out about other people's borrowing or rent payments?
Surely
this is in conflict with the spirit of the Data Protection Act?
