DISABILITY ADVISOR
19 hrs per wk over 2-3 days per week - £11,745 per annum (inclusive)
The Royal Academy of Music is seeking a Disability Advisor to
continue with the implementation of its Disability Strategy and to
comply fully with the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Act.
The post holder will play a key role in helping to co-ordinate and
develop the Academy's understanding of disability issues, working
closely with staff and students, as well as calling in external
expertise as necessary. The post holder will have a keen interest in
helping those who have a learning disability, particularly dyslexia.
S/he will be working closely with students assisting them with DSA
applications where necessary. The post is for two years in the first
instance and the post holder will be required to start in September
2003.
You will have:
- a degree and/or equivalent qualification in disability issues;
- experience of working within student support at tertiary education
level;
- a thorough understanding of the nature of vocational training
- the skills to develop and co-ordinate an integrated guidance
strategy suited to academy students, staff, and the visiting public.
