Good that you're glad to be grey Kath....
Our timesheets are signed by each notetaker and each student at the end
of each week, given that we have 50 students being supported by 40
notetakers in any given perm. That's a lot of forms! We try to assist
LEA's by condensing the information to one sheet of A4 which records a
weekly breakdown for each student, it's a wonderful idea if only we
could get all students to sign it, I'm not keen on the idea of sending
through copies of all weekly returns to LEA's it would amount to a small
rainforest in no time.
Off to the drawing board again, thanks for the input.

Just a few words from one of those grey bureaucrats requesting
confirmation
of all support the student receives....
It seemed in the original email that you'd got things pretty much sorted
and then tried to find ways to complicate them. I may have got this
wrong
since I deleted the email, but I think you said that all students signed
for their notetaking sessions at the end of each session. There then
seemed
to be some students who weren't expected to do this (such as those
requiring interpreting). Then at the end of each term everybody was
asked
to sign for all their support.
Maybe I've misinterpreted it, or missed something, but why is it not
possible to ask everyone to sign for their support at the end of each
session? This way the student knows what they're signing for and there's
a
clear record of each session. There's then no need for a follow up form
up
the end of term. The onus is on the support worker, who is after all
getting paid for the session, to get the student's signature, which
should
be easy enough since they are both in the same room at the same time.
I'd
have thought this would be sufficient for all purposes - keeping track
of a
student's support, payroll and LEA invoicing.
I attach the form that we send to all students to complete - they're
supposed to pass it to their support workers who in turn fill in the
details of each session and get the student to sign it each time. I
should
point out that I have nicked this in its entirety from Access Summit -
but
it's worked for both them and us for a number of years.

I've had some interesting comments both on and off list, what would be
really helpful would be input from LEA's of what they can accept, and
how they might be able to help us, it is quite a resource hungry process
for us.
Any Lea's want to throw in their two penn'orth?

Chris,
We have the same system in place as you and the same pitfalls it would
seem!
