Kirsty,
A few years back we had trouble when a blind student was refused a Speech Therapy placement opportunity in a health centre because of the guide dog. This is comparable, and would certainly now be illegal.

Subject: Wheelchair-users and teaching practice
Hi,
I'd be interested to hear from anyone with experience/thoughts in relation
to the following (hypothetical) situation:
How (legally) might a university stand in turning down an application (for
2003) from a wheelchair-using QTS applicant, on the basis that they cannot
guarantee accessible schools for the teaching practice? Just wondering how
the SENDA obligation to ensure disabled students are not discriminated
against on placement, and the 2005 deadline for the accessibility of the
built environment would interrelate in this case...
Thanks in anticipation.
