Hi all,
Apologies for cross-posting.
I'd be really grateful for feedback from anyone who is aware of their
institution's policy towards funding health assessments for applicants to
teaching and nursing courses (for example), where the professional body
requires a Health Declaration to be completed prior to entry to the course.
We have a system where each applicant completes a basic questionnaire, and
for those who declare anything 'significant' on this form, a further
assessment (ideally by an Occupational Health Advisor) is required. Are any
institutions currently funding this further assessment? My concern is that
not to do so would be discriminating against disabled applicants, or those
with medical conditions requiring investigation. The DfES guidance states
that (for teaching candidates), the institution should fund the assessment,
not must.
Thoughts??
