I think it is important for the student with the speech difficulty to liaise
with their course tutor, personal tutor, etc concerning potential problems
that exist when giving a presentation.
Speaking from experience and with a history of stammering, I was naturally
nervous / fearful of standing in front of a class. Yet, I was glad for the
opportunity to discuss my fears and, although I managed to give several
presentations during my degree,(and benefited from the opportunity to
speak!) I was grateful that if, at the last moment, I did not want to speak,
there were other options - such as submitting the presentation as a written
coursework, or speaking to a very small group or on a one-to-one basis -
that were available to me.

hi
i think you need to look at what is being assessed. is it the persons
ability to give a good presentation or the information being presented?
it may also be worth considering who has most "difficulty" with the
presentation, the presenter with a lifelong speech problem or the
academics/students being asked to listen.
if the student cannot manage or does not want to speak then maybe the use of
speech output software on a laptop would be useful? others may benefit from
rehearsing the presentation in front of someone.
cheers

Try getting the department to accept an Inspiration mindmap (or grey matter
plot if the fear of litigation is high)

Subject: Speech difficulties
Has anyone had produced any strategies, guidelines or have good
ideas on adjustments that can be made for students with speech
difficulties (e.g, Stammer, CP) on courses where they are expected
to make verbal presentations (pretty much most courses here now).
