Hi,
In terms of assistive technology with dyslexic people in mind, textHELP
is only available in version 4 for the mac (whereas it has advanced to
V6 for PC). Inspiration V7 (mind mapping software) runs on either mac or PC.
There are a variety of problems with the recent upgrade in the Mac
operating system. It's worth checking with the manufacturer of the
software you intend to buy, that it will run on OS-X. If it doesn't I
believe you can order macs with older operating systems (9.1 etc.),
which run more of the assistive technology out there at the moment.
There's a list for Mac OS-X users in jiscmail - don't know if you've
found it, I joined weeks ago and nothing has happened yet, but you might
get some useful responses if you post there too.
