There is a note on several Medical dictionaries and the American Medical
version of a Franklin eBookman (http://www.franklin.com/ebookman/medical/)
already mentioned, is available at
http://www.niad.sussex.ac.uk/news_article.cfm?Article=48 . It is also
possible to purchase dictionaries for PDAs e.g.
http://www.osl.u-net.com/m557.htm but they tend to have US spellings.
However it may be worth looking at:
Project Palm (http://www.cbcu.cam.ac.uk/handhelds/) is a project designed
to create a collaborative learning environment for Cambridge Medical
Students.
OxfordHandhelds were set up to promote and facilitate the use of mobile
technologies by healthcare professionals (doctors, nurses, paramedical
specialities and students of all disciplines) in UK - they seem to have
moved but it may be worth contacting Oxford Medical Informatics
http://oxmedinfo.jr2.ox.ac.uk/1202/index.html
There is a medical spell checker that works with Word with UK spellings for
£77 from http://spellex.co.uk/uk_edition.htm
Sadly I cannot find any handheld UK spell checkers that have a specific
medical spell checker although they often say they have medical terms
included but I doubt sufficiently complex for nurses or doctors. What a
roundabout way to admit failure and if anyone has success please let me
know! Apologies :>)
Best wishes

I thought Franklin did such a model on their website? Whether it is
available in the UK is another matter. I know someone in Hereford who uses
one.
