No problems so far Hazel. We managed to establish a base level agreement
with them (Kent CC) for last year. The main point was who covers the cost
of extra adaptations of the rooms. I suggested that the university would
cover standard aids such as shower chairs, etc and if there were any
specific requirement over and above social service would pay for the
difference (i.e special hist). That was last year and it worked really well.
I have contacted them to tackel this year in a more formal manner/still
waiting for a reply. Hope this helps, Andy Velarde

Subject: funding of PAs rooms
Can colleagues please give any feedback on whether they have had any
difficulties in getting local social services to fund rooms for care
supporters, where overnight assistance is needed by a disabled student.
Do any HEIs operate service agreements/contracts with SS departments?
Do any HEIs fund some or all of the costs of this provision?
I would be grateful for information or sources of info. re any aspect of the
above.
many thanks,
Hazel
