I am the recently appointed disability officer for the Conservatoire of
Dance and Drama (part of the 3 year NDT funding). We're an HE
institution consisting of Rada, London Contemporary Dance School,
Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and Northern School of Contemporary
Dance. More small performing arts colleges are likely to join us next
year. We have many dyslexic students as well as those with other
impairments and all are entitled to DSA. Current provision differs
between the schools but all are committed to developing good practice so
I would encourage your students to apply for audition. They could email
me direct if they want any questions answered.

Subject: Support in Private HE Institutions
Hi all,
I have a couple of students hoping to progress to HE drama / dance
courses next September and my understanding is that these are privately
funded institutions so that the students would be ineligible for the
DSA. Under SENDA would the institutions be expected to replicate the
sort of support these students (who are dyslexic) would be likely to get
elsewhere (usually IT hardware, software & specialist teaching /
non-medical helper)?
Would be grateful for any advice.
