Hi Ben
In answer to your query the first one - Trade Unions and Qualifications
Bodies is to bring them into scope of the DA. In fact under the proposals in
the second consultation document on Employment and Occupation the only
organisation that will not be included is the armed forces - this means
police, fire etc will soon come under the DDA.
The second consultation document changes many items and brings in EU
directives. The major one on this is that from October 2004 the DDA will
apply to all employers regardless of number of employees. Currently it is a
minimum of 15 employees as the trigger for the DDA. In October 2004 it will
be 1 employee. There are many other changes and improvements in consistency
made in the second consultation document.
Hope this helps

Subject: DRC Draft Code of Practice
I am aware of two recent DRC Draft Codes of Practice
- one for for Trade Unions and Qualifications Bodies and the other for
Employment and Occupation. Are these bodies covered by the DDA already or
are there plans to extend the DDA to cover them hence the Draft Codes of
Practice?
Would appreciate if anyone can shed light on this for me.
Many thanks,
Ben Fell
