PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER TRAINING
The University of Bristol is offering a free training course which will
equip individuals to become a Personal Support Worker to disabled people in
employment and in other settings.
The course is funded by the European Social Fund and is free to people who
are not in full time paid employment. Reasonable travel, overnight
accommodation and dependent or childcare costs will be met.
The course will run from February to November 2004 and will include modules
in:
Disability Equality
Deaf Awareness and Communication Tactics
Working with Visually Impaired People
Deafblind Support Work
Working with People with Mental Health Issues
Working with People with Learning Disabilities
Personal Assistance Training
Notetaking
Personal and Professional Development
The course also offers the opportunity to gain the following professional
qualifications :
CACDP Level 2 Deaf Awareness
CACDP Communication Tactics
CACDP Level 2 Deafblind Support Work
CACDP Level 2 Notetaking for Deaf People.
Each module is also accredited by the University of Bristol. Credits
gained can be accumulated towards a Certificate of Higher Education.
