Doing a quick survey and sorry if this has already been asked a thousand
times already but.....
When considering students with learning disabilities, what types of report
would you accept in terms of the assessor (i.e. only a Chartered Ed Psych or
would you consider another level of qualification) and time (i.e. would you
consider a report "out-of-date" if it was more than a number of years old)?
To put this into context, my role is particulalry to do with special exam
arrangments which is dealt with by committee process. Currently, we have a
time limit to an Ed Psych report when someone applys for additional
arrangments. I am re-considering what this time limit should be and am
interested in others practises and opinions.
As part of a university and deadling with an adult age range we would
naturally expect an adult deslexia test or, in its absence, help in getting
one which does define some limits. But, given that a diagnosis of dyslexia
essentially will not change, I guess I am looking for an indication of how
much new knowledge can be got from a new report or, to put it another way,
when would be the best time to get a new report so that some new knowledge,
learning strategied or methods, etc can be learnt?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
