Hi all
Further to the email below from Neil Stewart Associates Solicitors,
requesting examples of best practice for HE institutions that have made
physical
changes to their buildings to improve accessibility for those with
disabilities - does anyone have any pertinent examples please?
Many thanks
Max

Subject: Physical Accessibity
Dear Ms Kemp,
We are currently in the planning stages of a conference focussed around
the
2001 SEN and Disability Act, and it's implications for Higher Education.
We
held a similar conference last year and since the response was so
positive,
and consequent stages of the act are continuing to come into force, we
are
planning a follow up one for the beginning of 2004.
As I'm sure you know, in 2005 institutions will be responsible for
improving
the physical access of their buildings. We are looking for some
examples of
'best practice' in this area - HE institutions that have made physical
changes to their buildings to improve accessibility for those with
disabilities.
Due to the nature of your organisation, I was hoping you might provide
me
with some contacts at insitutions that have made improvements in this
area.
Thank you so much for any assistance you can provide. I look forward to
hearing from you,
Jennifer
