Any words but OK Mick (smashing bot design, Gromit, er, listserve)
In the manual for the Dana, it says that 'you can use the IrDA
(infrared) port on Dana to beam . . . AlphaWord files to an
IrDA-capable printer or IrDA-capable computer'. It looks like this
will work for plain text in real time, but I can't try it out because
Jon's given my laptop away (the brute). On the other hand, it also
says 'for best results, hold Dana and the other [device] between 4 and
39 inches apart', which is hardly the same as seeing each other across
a crowded room and significantly limits the usefulness of this type of
connection. I think if you're throwing wires away and looking for
reliable bluetoothness, we're back at laptops.
