Last Nov / Dec, I went to the Access to Work auction and got about five
height adjustable desks for Hereward. It was absolutly crazy as some
where as low as £16 still in the box, and one has a motor on it. When
we went back with a vehicle to collect them, I was given 1st refusal on
four huge desks that go VERY high, ideal for somebody unable to sit. One
is in our refectory and the rest in classrooms and an office of a
colleague with back pain. I got them all for £200, plus 5 electric
rise/fall office chairs for £10 each... I also got 3 Inteli Keyboards
with overlays for £13 and several Lightwriters (without Dectalk) for £3...
I found it offensive in a way as most of it was snapped up by dealers
who will make around 500 / 600% on it. For myself, I got 3 Apple Macs (2
G4s and a G3) for £500, a huge desk, and a 21" monitor for £80... With
a bit of planning, the government could have saved a fortune.
